Iskraemeco to Deploy Symbiot HES in Major AMI Project with TAURON Dystrybucja

Iskraemeco has been selected to deliver its advanced Symbiot Head-End System (HES) for one of Europe’s largest Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects. Commissioned by TAURON Dystrybucja S.A., a prominent energy distributor in Poland, the initiative is part of a national metering infrastructure upgrade scheduled to span from 2025 to 2032. 

Under the agreement, Iskraemeco will provide a scalable, secure, and high-performance remote meter reading system capable of supporting up to 6 million smart meters. The solution will include long-term maintenance, support, and development services, ensuring continued compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating smart grid modernization. 

The project will involve close collaboration between the two companies throughout the system design, implementation, and integration phases. Symbiot HES will be fully integrated with TAURON Dystrybucja’s existing Meter Data Management (MDM) platform, enabling seamless communication and data handling. 

To ensure the solution meets technical and regulatory standards, TAURON Dystrybucja conducted an extensive procurement process, including competitive dialogues, market consultations, and expert evaluations. The finalized contract encompasses the design, deployment, and documentation of the Symbiot HES, training for TAURON personnel, and provision of necessary licenses. 

The system will enhance metering infrastructure by enabling real-time configuration and management of smart devices, supporting data collection from electricity meters and PLC data concentrators. This capability will significantly improve grid visibility, allowing near real-time diagnostics and issue resolution. 

By delivering actionable insights and improving the speed of customer service, the new system is set to elevate customer satisfaction while supporting TAURON Dystrybucja’s broader goals in energy efficiency and smart grid development. The collaboration underscores Iskraemeco’s role in advancing energy innovation across Europe.
